From around 1991-1993 I did almost nothing but make big sculptures, usually out of metal. Here are images of two of them.

The first,"The Central Brother" is a single casting in iron, poured at Radillac, close to the University of Iowa. It was a huge technical acheivement in terms of the mold, which was carved in the negative and took 350 lbs in a single pour. I was happy with it at the time, but the fact that it didn't move was vaguely annoying.

The second, "Deuteronomita" was mixed media, the full tower was about 30 feet tall. It is designed to attract and ground lightening. As far as I know, the supplicants have yet to have their prayers answered. This piece, more than anything else pushed me towards media arts, especially virtuality. I initially set ot up at a rural location, mostly for safety reasons. It was tall and grand, and as I was driving away I felt like a real artiste, until... I noticed when I got about half a mile away that it was framed and dwarfed by two enormous transmission towers. In virtuality, there are no transmission towers.
