I have been working with 3d animation as
my main visual toolbox for more
than 10 years. I design the soundtracks to my animations,
which have always
been of equal importance to the visuals. While most of
the music and sound
work I've done for the last several years is synthetic,
or noise music, with
How to Steer the Wheel, I'm interested in a more traditional
musical approach.
In this work, the guitar is an armature; all other sounds
and the imagery are
built around carefully articulated musical compositions
for guitar. The music
is a thread of reason in an abstract visual landscape
devoid of narrative and
other storytelling devices. The composition is the narrative.
How to Steer the
Wheel walks a disconcerting line between the bombastic
and the delicate.
